UM Conference on Psychological Science

Students and Faculty,

Abstracts are now being accepted for our 7th annual UM Conference on Psychological Science, which will be held Friday April 1st from 10-5pm in Peabody Building. Abstracts must be submitted by Wednesday March 9 at 12 NOON using this link: https://uofmississippi.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9FG6s5iI7d0D9RQ

As we did last year, this year we are offering 2 formats for presenting research: 45-min poster presentations (from 11-1pm) and 5-min data-blitz presentations (1-3pm). Abstracts will be reviewed by the Research Conference Committee and will be decisions sent out in mid-March. .

Poster presentations are open to undergraduates, and the data blitz option is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty (but preference will be given to students). The data blitz is an oral presentation limited to 5 minutes in length (that includes time for 1 question) and no more than 5 slides total. All abstracts and presentations must be data-based.

More info about this year’s conference

We’ll have FREE LUNCH outside the poster sessions around 11am and educational sessions for undergrads about graduate school. This year’s guest speaker is Dr. Sergio Iñiguez from University of Texas El Paso, whose work focuses on developmental neurobiology of mood, anxiety, and substance use conditions: https://www.utep.edu/liberalarts/psychology/people/sergio-d-iniguez.html

This conference is a great opportunity to share your research and help our students boost their CVs, improve their presentation skills, and practice presenting for an upcoming conference, Honors thesis defense, or 3-minute thesis competition.
