OCTOBER 8, 2019

I’m originally from Texas, but graduated high school as the valedictorian in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. I worked as a tour guide for Ruby Falls, an underground waterfall in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and as a waitress during my time in high school. I have four younger siblings, ages 16, 13, 13, and 3, and we have five dogs and one cat.

I first toured Ole Miss my sophomore year of high school, fell in love, and now I’m an Ole Miss student majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry and psychology. I’m a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, and I work as an intramural official for Campus Recreation. I hope to join yearbook staff, and become an ambassador for the university.

I’m helping start a volunteer program that works with Oxford’s Bramlett Elementary School to teach first graders about the STEM field with fun scientific experiments.

I plan to pursue a career in medicine, with dreams of becoming either a trauma surgeon or obstetric gynecologist. Thanks to the Dr. and Mrs. Charles Walker Scholarship, I’m one step closer to achieving my dreams of becoming a physician.

My scholarship helps me concentrate on my studies and alleviates much of my financial stress. I cannot express my gratitude for the support. Because of my scholarship, I have time to study, to have an active social life, and to contribute back to the university.

I hope to one day be able to help other students achieve their goals, just as my scholarship is helping me achieve mine. I will uphold the standards of my scholarship and pledge to continue to dedicate myself to my studies while giving back to my community.
